1928 Scherzer Single Leaf Rolling Bascule
South Fork of the New River
Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Structural Integrity Systems, LLC, monitored the railroad bascule bridge for the Florida Department of Transportation from February 2005 through April 2006.  Using specifically designed computers and sensors attached to the piers, the dynamic loading on the structure was recorded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

During the monitoring period, Washington Group International drilled
10 foot diameter shafts, 100 feet deep and constructed piers for the new double track bridge between the bascule and the adjacent I-95 bridge.  Engineers from Structural Integrity Systems, LLC, were in constant contact with the remote wireless systems on the structure from their office in Kansas.
